Weirder and weirder still.
I thought this week seemed a little extreme on the DLC releases and I’m sorta right. Only 25 new game releases and over 50 pieces of DLC. It’s mostly just coincidence with a lot of games launching different types of DLCs but it was a bit bemusing to see. Here’s a gallery with four pages of DLC. (Not all of the listed titles are DLC, just the purple marked ones).
This post is part of a series where I feature the most interesting new releases on Valve’s Steam store. With my first impressions commentary to go along with each. Learn more about this series at this blog post.
I didn’t expect this to show up on Steam but it has. Saw gameplay footage for this utterly bizarre game a couple of years ago. The game itself is four years old now but I guess it finally got past the horrifically bad Greenlight system just now. It’s bemusing to watch this game. Seeing a giant crustacean battle for undersea dominance with lasers, missiles and other weaponry. It’s…weird. That’s all I got to say for this, it’s weird.
Mixed Feature: D4: Dark Dreams Don’t Die – Season One-
I’ve seen gameplay footage of this one too. It’s a motion-controlled game ported from consoles to PCs and was apparently ported pretty well. Which is a nice surprise. The main idea of the game is that you’re trying to solve the mystery of your wife’s murder. That’s about the only sane narrative going. The rest are silly-crazy people doing silly/crazy stuff. That’s what I got from the trailer and bit of footage I’ve seen. It’s a bit odd that it’s considered “casual” by the tags because I’ve seen much more casual games than this. But whatever. It’s an odd one.
Really, the only reason I’m even talking about this game is for the out-of-left field narration by Sean Bean. What that actor is doing involved in a game like Kholat, I’m not sure. Here’s my guess about Kholat based off the information I’m presented with: It’s probably Amnesia: Machine of Pigs. Walking Simulator with limited game mechanics. That’s the impression I’m getting despite it’s attempts to come off as something else. I do like the concept however. Exploring an unsolved case like the Dyatlov Pass Incident? (No, I haven’t heard of this incident before the game. But the trailer gives you a good idea of what it’s about). That could be potentially interesting.
Unsure of what to say about this trailer: Chicken Invaders 3
I….I got nothing for this.
