A Paladin’s Recommendations: Steam Winter Sale 2013 Day 6…

Day six has arrived and there are some ok deals to pick up today.

This series is about recommending or cautioning you about games on the Steam Daily Sale as well as any interesting GOG sales that might catch my eyes. I won’t bother with flash sales as those come and go too quickly. Don’t forget that yesterday’s deals are still in effect for another 24 hours so check out my previous post for information on those. So let’s get onto day two of this year’s sale.

  1. FTL: Faster Than Light: Not the best sale for this game, it’s been on sale for much better but with an upcoming free DLC expansion coming and plenty of replayability, now’s the time to get FTL. It was my top game of 2012 after all, if that’s not enough for you, idk what is.
  2. Space Pirates and Zombies (and Bounty Hunters): This indie top-down space combat game is one I recently picked up and is a very high quality game that never got it’s fair share of attention in my honest opinion. Definitely worth a look at 75% off.
  3. Nightsky: At 80% off, you don’t have much to lose by playing this ambient action-puzzle game. I had quite a bit of fun with this short indie game and it’s worth a look if you’re into puzzle games like these.

Warning and Caution on these Games:

  1. Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition. While I don’t have exact experience with the original, I do have experience with the sequel which was a buggy mess. Do research on this game before you get it.
  2. Total War: Rome II: I know I said I wouldn’t be talking about flash sales but you should be warned about this game. It was released in a completely bug-ridden, mechanically broken state and is considered unplayable by many.
  3. Sims 3: Sims 3 has a ridiculous amount of questionable quality DLC and is an EA product. Be wary.

Hope you enjoyed this post, more recommendations coming tomorrow!

Have a Merry Christmas!
