I’ve had better weeks. It started off Monday with dealing with coming back to Tillamook to try and fix my screw-up from a tech call on Saturday. At least, I thought it had been my screw-up. The person called me Sunday to complain that my fix had not fixed the laptop’s slowness and other issues it was having. Fair enough, I thought I had legitimately screwed something up so I was willing to work on to fix my mistake for free. After many an hour working on the laptop, I came to the conclusion that the harddrive was failing. It was three years old and the CPU wasn’t working overtime to start up Windows (which is where most of the slowness was coming from). The only other thing that I thought could be causing it was an insidious malware program. I got it back in a running condition but warned them that the computer was likely going to need a new hardrive or to be replaced entirely. It was a learning experience for me and one that cost me a lot of time to learn. But it showed that I need to get a bunch of Windows discs, a new Laptop as soon as I can and some other items. I’m also going to have a “disclaimer” for people that don’t use proper antivirus protection that if I have to work on the gadget again that it will cost money. I’m ok with letting this one time slide because I didn’t warn them ahead of time but this will be the last time. I can’t afford to lose an entire day to something like that without compensation. And if people aren’t willing to setup their computer with antivirus protection, then it’s their problem, not mine.
And today, this day just came and went faster than I’ve ever seen it. All I felt like I did was go into town for errands. Kind of frustrating but what can you do… Gah, the days are flying by too fast. But, you know, at least I’m having fun. I’ve got several projects going that I’m really having a ball with. I just wish I had more time in the day. And yes, it’s insane to create more work for myself but it’s just too easy to do so.
That in mind, TLW Tech Services has now expanded to the greater Portland area, Facebook and Google+. This is a major expansion for me and it’ll make my life interesting for the next couple of months. At least, that’s the hope. I’m going to be working on local advertising in Portland over the next couple of weeks as I try and figure out the optimal ways. You can either like or add to circles if you wish to follow my hijinks with my new start up. I just want to thank everyone for their support. It means a lot to me. I’m working on getting a new logo to reflect the new name change up soon. It’s just, I’ve been so busy lately and so has my artist who’s working on it. Crazy.
Otherwise, I’ve just been trying to get as much as I can every day. My gaming has been focused on getting back to System Shock, recording episodes of Shattered Haven and trying to beat my friend Moonshine Fox in Pinball FX2 on the leaderboards. Pinball FX2 is so much fun, it’s been a long time since I seriously played a pinball game. Ever since the Humble Bundle had a sale of 20+ boards via DLC, we’ve been at it pretty hard. But I’d appreciate if another challenger stepped into the ring. Just add me on Steam. Speaking of which, I also updated all of my reviews with the new changes to Steam’s recommendations. I’ve added all positive and negative reviews from my blog to Steam with links directly back to my blog if you want to read the original/full review. It’s only thanks to Steam for allowing for negative reviews that I was able to do this. This will have to tide you over until I get back into my reviewing groove again.
