King’s Personal Musing 4/22/13: Homeworld IP Bought By Gearbox, Spring Photos and more…

One of my photos from a little while back…I muse about the Homeworld IP being bought up by Gearbox, share some more spring photos and more…

My Life of Late…

Homework and more homework. Yeah, thinking about it now, not much I want to talk about right now. Maybe next time.

What I’m Playing Now…

I’ve been playing more Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance over the weekend. Which has been great I might add, I’ve clearly missed playing RTSes lately. And I’m really starting to feel competent at them too for the first time in a while. Managed to stomp MoonshineFox for once. So, yay! ;). I’m still watching Star Trek: Enterprise and I’m surprised at how much I’m enjoying it. I didn’t like Voyager when I tried watching it last year so I had little hope of Enterprise being that much better, but I’ve been surprised with this first season. I hope it keeps it up for the remaining seasons…

Content I’ve Published Elsewhere…

Think I’ll spread these uploads out a bit so you guys don’t get inundated with the content I’m producing. This is part 4 of 5 of Gareth’s and I’s Portal 2 series in the advanced testing chambers. This one is pretty amusing due to how much I failed just trying to get the puzzle completed. It wasn’t intention that I do that badly, I mean it. Ugh. It’s hard to watch even now. The “art” is finished for the Workshop Adventures so that will continue rolling as normal when part five of five is uploaded. I think you’ll enjoy that even more than this series. Still, here’s this episode to hold you over for now.

Gaming & Technology News To Discuss…

The Homeworld IP, which was originally owned by THQ, has finally been bought up…by Gearbox. For those that don’t know, Homeworld is an old RTS that had a good amount of following behind it. I only really know of it because of my friend Jon. Otherwise, this likely wouldn’t have registered on my radar. I have no idea what business Gearbox thinks it has making an RTS when they can’t even competently make two FPS games from respected IPs. I have very little confidence in Gearbox’s ability to produce a good version of Homeworld. Heck, I have 0 confidence in them to be able to make a game that doesn’t have addictive properties in it (Borderlands). It’s the most disappointing news of the month, it really is. RTSes are few and far between right now and the last thing I want to see is some AAA dev studio muck it up again. Yeah, this is a completely unfair attitude to hold on Gearbox, but considering Aliens: Colonial Marines and Duke Nukem Forever….well, just don’t muck it up. Because if you muck this up, just quit making games. I’m tired of seeing AAA devs producing garbage all of the time. This industry doesn’t need it and I’m tired of being constantly disappointed in the latest AAA games. I haven’t bought a single new game this year. That isn’t even intentional but when checking my receipts, I hadn’t bought any new games this year. Not even Indies which surprised me. Four months and no new games? Not a very good sign for 2013…

Audio of Note…

This guy, is pretty much awesome. Smooth McGroove does the acapella version of Song of Storms, from OOT.

An interesting song, give it a listen…

Videos To Watch…

A good retrospective on LucasArts by LaserFrog. It was rather touching.

Moonshine Fox continues to play Giana Sisters and this latest level has him speaking incoherently. Yeah, this part is none-too-easy. =P

Until next time…
