King’s Personal Musing 3/11/13: Photos of Spring, Portal 2 OCReMix song and more…

My Life Musings…

Dead week. Beginning to understand why they call it dead week…considering most of the people around here look like zombies. I probably look like a zombie. Blegh. Thus begins one of the longest and shortest weeks of every school term. I don’t really enjoy it and I don’t like it that teachers still put homework on us during this week. I also don’t like that I’ve probably repeated myself on that statement several times now but what can you do, right? Ah well. It also doesn’t help when your internet crashes during the afternoon right in the middle of your online homework assignment. Thankfully, I hadn’t really started it much or otherwise I would have been seriously ticked off by the loss of progress. Internet did finally come back up so I could finish it though… It still makes me wonder why people are still defending always-online DRM. I’ve got one of the best Internet connections I’ve ever had in my life and the stupid thing still likes to crash on a fairly regular basis for hours at a time. And this is Comcast we have. Lovely. Oh, the homework was Geography. Studying landslides, avalanches and other related geography sciences. This class was a lot more varied than I had really thought it would be. We even had a Geology chapter crop up a couple weeks back and that was just…idk…it felt really weird to me. Amusing part is, I knew most of the stuff from a previous Geology class I had taken a couple years back. I mean, I guess Geology and Geography are fairly similar sciences but it still felt odd. I’ve got one last homework assignment before the final next Wednesday. Then I’m free for a week and a half. I think. I haven’t really been looking too far ahead.

It was a beauty of a weekend weather wise. Got out and got to enjoy a nice long walk with a friend of mine on Saturday. Forgot to take pictures so I took some Sunday. You can see those below. I really cannot wait for a new phone so I can take better pictures. There are issues that are really starting to crop up with my iPhone 4 and that’s mostly due to with lighting and movement. But I’m being patient. I’m interested in hearing the news about the new Samsung Galaxy S4 but only to see what they do with it. I have no plans on spending $200+ on another phone again for a while.

If you missed it, I published my new review of A Valley Without Wind 2. I hadn’t actually intended on this being the first game of 2013 but things changed so I put this as my top priority to get done as soon as possible. So it is done. I hope you enjoyed. 🙂 It seems quite a few others read it.

I also published episodes of Portal 2 and Cthulhu Saves The World this past weekend. Still got plenty more of these episodes coming. I’m thinking about tweaking my Cthulhu series in a certain direction but I’m not sure if I want to just yet…I’m going to keep thinking on it. Portal 2 series is still going strong though.

Tech and Gaming News To Talk About…

Boy was news slow this past weekend. The only thing I have to talk about is something I consider so incredibly stupid I’m not going to give it the “full treatment” that I usually give news stories in this section. So the short version is that Sony came under fire for an achievement in God of War. This trophy/achievement was earned when you brutally attacked a “Fury”, one of the antagonists in the game, and it was called “Bros Before Hos”. Now, it will be called ‘Bros before Foes’. Apparently “Bros before Hos” is not politically correct anymore. I just want to scream in fury that this was even an issue. Bros before hoes is a statement that has always been made in gest. It is not a serious statement made by any guy. It’s really kind of hard to be serious. I’m just really getting tired of everyone getting all up in arms when something even slightly controversial is said. Which this isn’t even controversial. I’m more surprised that we’re ok with the violence that went on to get this achievement but hey, that’s America. *sigh* Gah, it frustrates me that I even have to talk about this…stupid politically correct crowd…

Photos To See…

Someone actually asked me if they could use this for their wallpaper. I felt rather honored, I don’t get asked that. The answer is usually yes. =)

This was an unintended Lens Flare shot I took of some berries on my Sunday walk. I really liked how the sun looks in this photo. I later touched it up in Snapseed.

It does rain in Arizona sometimes. Perfect for the current mood.

Audio of Note…

About time someone put up an OCReMix song of Portal 2. I was beginning to wonder if I would ever see one pop up in my feed and lo and behold, here one is. This “The Orchestra is a Lie” song is quite good. Give it a listen!

An interesting song…that’s all I have to say.

Cool Videos To Watch…

I found this video amusing. How (not) to review videogames. I have to say, it is pretty spot on. Heh.

May have found a new channel I wish to follow. This guy talks about the debate about what is and isn’t a videogame. Personally, why does it matter? If people enjoy it, let em. It doesn’t need to be strictly classify and why we suddenly became obsessed with that escapes me.

Until next time…
