My Life Musings…

My little blog here, A Paladin Without A Crusade, turned three years old today according to WordPress. This blog post is the 365th post I have published. Wow. That took me a bit off guard, I didn’t realize it had been so long since I started this up. What once started as a…well…place to rant about things has evolved into what it is today. A place to rant about videogames. Yeah, things have sure changed. ;). I’m not going to do too much special for today other than that pic and a little note here. I’ve already thanked you guys to death for reading so I won’t bore you again. But thanks, really. While the blog kind of fell apart a couple months back, it has been picking up again and it is really the only reason I keep doing this. Its rather interesting to me that I changed the look of this blog before its third birthday. I really didn’t plan that out. I should have. Would have made me look clever too. Darn. Ah well, after three years of blogging, my enthusiasm has only grown for it. I am really enjoying the stride I’m on and I hope you do too. So expect more posts as we move into the third year of this blog.

As far as gaming goes, what little of it I can do these days, I’ve been playing Portal 2 Workshop puzzles. Once that’s done as well as work on a certain post, I’m going to shift gears. My plan right now is to finish up the remaining games in my library before I start tackling any new ones. This includes the new DLC for Defense Grid, XCOM: Enemy Unknown, Amnesia: The Dark Descent and Torchlight II. Oh yeah, I’ll get through those games in no time at all. (/end sarcasm). It is a busy schedule so that will take some time. So I have no interest in picking up new games right now. I want to get through the main campaigns of these games and finish them. I’m kind of hoping to do a co-op on Orcs Must Die 2 or Sanctum but that’s a low priority task right now. I also want to do a weekly or bi-weekly play at AI War: Fleet Command again but that’s a really low priority task right now and I doubt I’ll get anything running while my life is as busy as it is. So those are my hopes. Likely only 1/3rd of those hopes will come about but hey, a guy can dream right? What games will you be playing this weekend?

Tech and Gaming News To Talk About…

Arcen Game’s next game “Shattered Haven” is now in BETA. Shattered Haven is an environmental puzzle game with a story aspect to it. It introduces these creatures called the “grays”. These Grays roam a decaying land where animals transform into twisted violent beings. This 2D isometric game has got me intrigued right now. I won’t be participating in the BETA just like I couldn’t with A Valley Without Wind 2 because…life. You should give this game a look through, I think its going to be quite a bit of fun. I’m liking the art style and having a new smart puzzle game would be rather nice right now.

Humble Bundle

The fifth Humble Bundle with Android launched a short time ago. The ever popular pay-what-you-want, support charity and get cross-platform, DRM-free games is back with six games to catch your eye. These games are all compatible with PC, Mac, Linux and Android too. A couple of these games are just debuting on Android as well. It’s impossible to say this isn’t a great deal so please pay a worthwhile amount to these guys and not just some $1 payment. So what games does this bundle come with already? Well, Dungeon Defenders (+DLC), Super Hexagon, Beat Hazard Ultra, Dynamite Jack, Solar 2 and NightSky HD. I have only played NightSky and Beat Hazard Ultra. Beat Hazard Ultra is an eye-destroying graphically impressive game. I played it a couple years back and enjoyed my time with the asteroids-inspired arcade gameplay. NightSky is one of those Indie platformer games with a good atmosphere, an impressive graphic style and enjoyable experience. Not my most favorite platformer game I’ve ever played but well worth your time if you do enjoy that genre. I’ve heard Super Hexagon and Dungeon Defeders are good games and I really should check them out one of these days. I don’t know much about the remaining games to say either way. So head on over to HumbleBundle.com and pay way more than the average to get some good games to play.

Photos To See…

LGR’s take on Simcity in his latest Sims review cracked me up. =P

It was actually sunny here in Eugene today. I know, I was surprised too.

Audio of Note…

Taylor Davis gives an impressive performance with this video on the Journey Medley. I think I’ve said before that I wanted to play Journey and everytime I hear the music, well, it just reinforces that. Take a listen as you drift into the weekend…

Cool Videos To Watch…

Moonshine Fox plays level 2-3 of Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams. And makes me bang my head on the keyboard with all of the FAILING he does in this video. Gahhhh….paranoia much there doood? 😉 Enjoy

LGR publishes a hilarious review of The Sims 3: University Life. I just laughed the entire time as he went into detail on the expansion. The Sims 3 remains a series that I keep at a distance and have no interest in playing but I always enjoy listening to LGR talk about it at length. Enjoy.

That’s it for this week of Personal Musings by yours truly. As for next week’s schedule….I’m not really sure what my publishing schedule is going to be. I am going to try to do all three days normally but I may skip one to do extra studying. (It’s dead week next week, the week before finals. *shudder*) Until then…
