My Life Musings…

This personal musing shouldn’t exist. I actually decided not to make one earlier because its been a bit of a rough day today. But a friend helped me pull back together tonight. So here I am, blogging away. That’s why this one is a slight bit later than I wanted. I won’t deny that this has been my most difficult term on a lot of different levels. Starting out how it did…well…yeah. But I’m going to stick to it until the end of the term. For better or worse. Yesterday, our group helped make “Meat Surprise” for the house I live in. It was Beef Cutup? Erm…hmm….I don’t remember. Some sort of boneless beef with that up in the name. I wasn’t there when we bought it so that’s why I’m forgetting the name. Ugh, me and my inability to remember names strikes again. That is getting rather tiresome. Anyway, between the beef and the sides (rolls, coleslaw  beans and macaroni salad) it all made for a good dinner. Then we cleaned up the place and that took a while. So things have been quite busy for me. Once I get this post published, I’m going to try and get my homework done tonight so I can get that out of the way.

Looking forward to some recording of Portal 2 with my friend Gareth this weekend. We’ve had to skip a few weeks and we’ve been slow on uploading what we had but we’re getting there. It’ll be a nice break tomorrow. I still have to upload Chapter 3 of our adventures but I have a feeling that’ll be split into multiple videos and take a while to get up. Plenty of content though, so I can’t complain :). What games have I been playing otherwise?…. Umm….not much. I’ve been kind of randomly playing them a little bit here and there but due to studying, well, haven’t played much this week.

Oh and speaking of Portal 2, the next part in the series for me was uploaded yesterday. Enjoy watching us fly through portals and fail to catch cubes. Oh, and Gareth does something surprising…

Tech and Gaming News To Talk About…

Legend of Grimrock II was announced via Almost Human’s blog yesterday and there was much rejoicing. Originally, they had only planned on doing DLC or something like that, but the ideas expanded to the point that they decided to make a full-fledged sequel for the dungeon-crawling game. LoGII will come with lots of new content, a big engine update and more features that haven’t been talked about yet. I’m looking forward to following this along and see what they do with the sequel to LoG, which was my second most favorite game last year. I never really found the content being made in the Dungeon Editor of much interest so I’m glad to see the pros coming and bringing a sequel to light. I think they have a game of enormous potential, so here’s hoping they can do something really cool soon.

In a bit of surprising news, the Chromebook Pixel was announced by Google yesterday and is now available on Google Play for a cool price of $1,300. And by cool, I mean OUCH THAT’S EXPENSIVE. There is also the LTE version with a bigger hardrive for $1,500. The Chromebooks have, up till now, been around $500 or less. Unless I’m forgetting one of them and that’s entirely possible. Still, that was a main feature of the Chromebook, was that it was a very cheap laptop designed for the Internet browsing and using Google services. It comes with a high-resolution (2560X1700) multi-touch screen, a quality aluminum body which reminds me of Apple MacBooks these days, and plenty of ports and jacks for your needs. This model of Chromebook seems to be taking on the MacBook Pro retina computers that came out last year.

I’m a bit uncertain why Google is doing this other than for variety in the Chromebook lineup. It’s an impressive piece of tech with its powerful i5 processor, high resolution touch screen and such. But is it worth the money? Erm…I don’t know. If your looking for a really nice Google/Internet experience, this is the laptop for you. Otherwise, you might as well look at the other competition. Of course, I wonder if you can put a Linux install on one of these. I’m assuming its possible, in which case, this would be a nice laptop to have. I’m just sitting here wondering if its worth the price though. It seems too high no matter how you look at it. I again come back to the thought that this Pixel was designed for those with cash to spend on the Google experience. But I wonder how many customers are out there like that…dunno. Anyone else have any thoughts on the Pixel?

On a side note, I’ve been paying more and more attention to Google Glass here lately. Its a cool technology as well but way too expensive to get your hands on. For now. ($1500). Still, I’ll admit that I’ve been wanting something like the glass as an easier way to take vids/photos. Having to pull out a camera every time you want to take a photo can get tiresome. That said, I’m not sure if I want to wear glasses all the time. But all the technology this thing promises to have seems to suggest this might be the next evolution of the smartphone. Who knows! The future sure is looking exciting again. I’m looking forward to seeing what Google can do with this…

Photos To See…

Quad Titan Cards overclocked?! O_O..be still my beating heart. That is way too much power for one person to handle ;).

An amusing picture, if a bit creepy.

An instrumental piece shared in my SoundCloud feed that I thought was worth listening to.

Cool Videos To Watch…

Want the abridged version of the Playstation 4 announcement event? This amusing video sums it up in 3mins. Which is probably a lot better than watching the 1.5hour+ video. 😉

If you want more information on the Playstation 4, I think TotalBiscuit talks about it in more depth and knowledge than I ever plan on doing. He goes in depth on the tech specs, whether you’ll still be able to play used games on it (spoilers: yes you can) and other interesting information about the PS4. I have no interest in getting a console soon but I’m glad to see Sony executing a worthwhile upgrade…from what we can tell thus far. Still hard to say for certain though.

Thanks for reading this week, I’ll be back on Monday with my regular musings as always. Until then…
