Personal Musing: 8/16/12…

So hot……so hot…….blargh……so hot….so hot….

About My Days:

Blegh….so hot…..just….so….hot and muggy. So hot…..muggy. Blegh….get the point? No? Ok, its been hottttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt. Yeah, I think you get the point. ;). Anyway, yeah, its been an interesting couple of days, dealing with this weather. I’m just not used to 90+ degree weather all the time. I blame that coastal cold stuff. Although I hear its gotten hot over there too. Even as I start writing this post at 9pm, the thermometer reads 80 degrees. x_x. That’s just too hot for this late of day. On a side note, when I was walking home from work I noticed something weird. The color of the sunlight changed, as if the sun was setting. It was 2pm in the afternoon. What the heck? Idk, it was surreal to say the least and I’m not sure what caused that to happen. Anyway, its just been work and personal projects yesterday and today. Although I could have sworn I had something I wanted to mention yesterday….need to keep better notes. I think this heat is sapping my ability to write, been having troubles getting them going today. And my latest LP recording sucked so I’ll be doing another try tomorrow. Ah well, life. I’ll get through it.

Played a bunch of Legend of Grimrock last night. Got to level 9 and there is this room I’m not sure on how to get past it. Big old room with a bunch of pressure plates. It had a name and I’m not remembering it off hand… Maybe I’ll figure it out tonight. I also got into the BETA access on Steam’s new Community changes. Liking what I see so far, though its buggy as heck so I haven’t been doing too much with it. But the interface changes and the status updates in Steam, should be interesting to see whether people use that or not. It is basically integrating features from Facebook/Twitter into Steam, there’s no doubt about that. Its not that bad though, Steam is still keeping it separate from the games and keeping it optional so as long as they stick with that, I won’t be too fussed by it. More thoughts as the BETA gets better later.

Also I heard from my friend Jon M that the next book of Jim Butcher’s Dresden Files series has been announced. Cold Days’ release date is November 27th, 2012. Ugh, so far away from now. Also, it figures, because that’s probably dead week or near to dead week that I’ll have to hold off on getting the book until after my fall term of college. Ah well, guess I can wait. If you don’t know anything about The Dresden Files, check out the link above. Its a great series of books mixing fantasy and mystery together and even that doesn’t quite describe it well enough. It has Wizards, vampires, werewolves, fairies, angels, demons, the list goes on. Its a great series of books.

News about Gaming, Tech and Other:

Instagram updated to 3.0 and while the update is interesting….the map feature is just a bit much. I’m glad we can opt out of it, at least they gave us that. Other features are pretty much just UI enhancements. Beginning to wonder if this is Facebook’s influence creeping in…

Been hearing some things about Twitter and its new API coming soon, but tbh, I haven’t read into it enough to get an idea of what’s going on and it sounds like developers are freaking out right now. Too hard to tell. I’ll talk about this later.

Humble Bundle for Android 3 is now out and about and its a good bundle. I’d say SpaceChem and Bit.Trip is worth the price alone and I think the other games are pretty good as well. Not getting it myself, not that much interest in the games that I don’t have, but give it a check.

A new RTS game called “Planetary Annihilation” is on Kickstarter now and the game intrigues me. But I’m being wary at the same time. We don’t have much of an RTS market right now thanks to Starcraft and lack of interest from publishers in the genre, so to see this one come out of no where on KS keeps me wary. Its hit over $200,000 of its $900,000 goal so it seems to have quite a bit of support behind it. I’m going to be keeping my eyes on it, but not going to invest into it. Mostly that’s the budget talking though, so what can I do. Anyway, the concept at least seems exciting. The main question is: can they execute it? Time will tell.

Ubisoft is launching its own Origin-like digital download store for games. I don’t think I really need to say much more than don’t even touch this. Not sure whoever wanted the worst DRM mixed in with a digital store like Steam. Don’t buy games from this service. There are so many better services that provide digital games. Just, don’t touch this one.

Portal 2 now has co-op puzzle creation available in its workshop! I love this, now I can do puzzles with someone else and try to solve this. I will be interested in seeing what puzzle designs come up with and getting to play them. At any rate, very glad to see this finally come in.

A flower for this ridiculously hot day

I am amused by this picture. Sorry, you’ll only get the joke if you know the people in it.

Internet Video Feature:

Remember that previous video of the Skyrim singer? She’s back with a new song. Very good song , I enjoyed it :).

Until next time…
