Personal Musings: 3/19/12…

Of Finishing…

Actually, I just realized how very appropriate that first sentence is to this blog post.  Hah.  You’ll see when you read on ;).

Ahh the weekend.  I was not on my most productive side during the weekend, but I got some stuff done, job searching and etc.  I also did some tweaks and fixes on the project I mentioned Friday and that should be done and done.  I get to present on it tomorrow morning (why did it have to be 9am X_X).  Then that class will be official done and over.  Oh, maybe I should mention the class, its a Family-and-human services class.  It was an experimental class for me into sociology to see if I would have any interest in that field.  It just didn’t hit the right buttons with me.  I should still pass it though, regardless, so that’s something.  I’m just glad to have two classes finished and done with.  IT class is the last final and as long as I pass it, which I don’t see why I wouldn’t pass the class, I’ll be continuing on to the next class in the series.  All sorts of college fun, I tell ya.

Still, the lack of an income is starting to bother me more and more…

So…I saw this article today.  (Rant alert)  Just read the article, not the comments they contain spoilers about Mass Effect 3.  YES, I’m talking about ME3 yet again.  Its the topic that just won’t die.  Thanks to Bioware.  http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012/03/19/bio-beware-the-latest-on-mass-effect-3s-ending-drama/  The very tl;dr of that story is that Bioware just admitted that they rushed the game out and it seems they had no idea on how to end the game.  So they threw whatever ending they did onto the game and shipped asap.  I don’t really need to discuss how ridiculous it is that gamers are petitioning the federal government to make Bioware change the ending of the game, that is a complete waste of their time to deal with those petitions.  What I want to discuss is why.  Why, oh why Bioware did you feel the need to rush the game?  This game was a  guaranteed success.  You can’t say that it would have been otherwise.  This is just, nreghhhgh, so frustrating how far you have fallen Bioware.  You used to be known for being good at story-driven games, but the fact that you just publicly admitted that you threw whatever you felt like out there because of some unknown reason is just….argh!!!  You had all the time in the world to work on something that you would have been happy with, but you pushed it out as quickly as you could.  (Ok, maybe not, there has to be a final point but cmon)  This is the clearest indication that either EA forced Bioware to release a sub-par game for max profit or Bioware is starting to lose it.  Either way, its sad.  And what’s worse is these guys even hinted at they will be releasing even more DLC for this game!  This is…wow.  Just, cmon Bioware.  Retconning the ending of the game at this point will likely make things worse for you, not better.  Even if the ending is bad, the fact that your even considering changing your minds is a sign of insecurity in your storytelling and that you shouldn’t have published the game in the first place.  And your really going to slap even more DLC on this game?  Way to milk the fanbase even more.  I’m just glad to be done with EA/Bioware now.  Anyway, this should be the last time I talk about ME3 (hahaha, probably not) in my personal musings.  Tomorrow should have something more interesting news-related.

Anyway, on a more happy topic, I finally finished S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of Pripyat Sunday night.  Over the past several months, I played 40 hours worth with 235 screenshots taken.  All screenshots can be found here: Steam Pictures.  I am writing a review right now and it should be out soon enough.  The short version though, is that I had a lot of fun with this game and am definitely glad I got to play it.  Its kinda sad now though, I no longer have a game that terrifies me while I play it in my Steam list anymore :(.  Darn.  The journey was definitely worth taking in this game…and its so odd to not see it at the top of my Steam game list anymore…  Ahh well, here is the last picture that I liked.

In the X8 Lab of Pripyat, I heard this creepy baby-crying noise by this door and when I opened it, I got surprised by a Burer and took a screenshot just before it blasted me in the face.  After a restart, IT got a blast in the face with that gun there.  That mutant was incredibly creepy…

Also, I finished up Bastion and published the review for it.  Go read up on it.  I won’t say more than what I had already stated in the post.

And that’s it.  Hope you enjoyed and I’ll see you again soon!
