Personal Musings: 2/28/12…

Test day…

Test days are, interesting beasts.  You can spend hours/days agonizing over a test that is maybe 1-2 hours long.  Up until the test is taken is a range of emotions from stress to anxiety and etc.  After said test is taken, comes relief and finality.  Finality in the fact that you did the best that you could and there is nothing you can do but wait for the verdict to come down from the professor.  Suffice it to say, they are crazy emotional days that I’m glad are done.  It certainly puts a strain on one’s self.  Today was for Spanish and I feel better about it than the previous test, but as with anything else, I wait.

My illness is starting to disappate, though the cough is still in force, but my nose be clearing and my throat is starting to get better which is great because it means I can start going for walks/jogs despite the cold weather.  Yay!  😉  Of course, that cough has to settle down first…

Other than that, its just more of the same, school, trying to find a job and more school.  Here’s something else I don’t understand: people who are bored/have nothing to do.  My life has been insane for the past couple of years of just stuff I can do so in some ways, I almost envy them.  Almost.  But then again, I’m never bored.  Trade offs I suppose :P.

These albums really helped through the day.  Mylo Xyloto by Coldplay and Shatter OST.  Actually, its kinda funny, but Shatter as a game is pretty yawn worthy, but the OST is great to listen to.  *shrug*, just saying.  I really love Mylo Xyloto by Coldplay, but I’m pretty much an admitted fan of Coldplay and no matter what it will sound good from them.  And it never gets old, none of their albums.  Heh, and I’ve been listening to them for the better part of a decade and a half now.

Netflix is losing its deal with Starz as far as the streaming side goes today.  And I only lose one video off my queue which I had watched already so I’m not bothered at all by it.  To be honest, the streaming side of Starz is largely overrated content.  Once you get past the few Disney videos they had, most of the content they had available was garbage.  My queue is as full as ever so if Starz doesn’t want money, that’s their own (stupid) choice.  They still have DVDs available on Netflix for those that want them which is probably better.

Speaking of streaming content, I dropped The Phillip DeFranko from YouTube and swapped it with TotalBiscuit’s Starcraft 2 channel.  Its strange, I might not like playing Starcraft 2 much, but I sure do enjoy watching it.  Weird.  This channel is also different for me because its the most content-intensive channel I’ve subbed to on YT.  We’ll see if I like that or not, its a very interesting experiment.  I usually don’t like these channels.

Oh and I dropped PhillyD because I found that his content just wasn’t worth the time spent.  I picked him originally because I found him to be amusing and he reported on news that I don’t get exposed to often, but here as of late, it just feels like its tech and celebrities.  I already get plenty of tech news from other, better sources.  And I just don’t simply care about celebrities enough to give them the time of day.  To me, they are just another person making a living.  I’ll just repeat myself, but I simply do not understand why people get so worked up about them.  Its something I’ve never understood and probably never will…

So as far as gaming goes, I only played a bit of A Valley Without a Wind.  The game is really shaping up and I think we’ll see a cohesive in the game that I’m really hoping for.  This journey being involved with game development from conception to “finish” has been a very interesting journey.  I look back at the old screenshots and the ideas the devs had back then and its crazy to imagine how much the game has changed since early BETA to now.  But its also cool to see as well.  I’ll probably never have a similar experience with game development and I’m glad to have gotten to push it out there to you guys via my blog/social networks.  My current plans with the game are to wait for 1.0, and then reset my world again for the last time before sticking with it.  I might also be putting up a server for people to play on, but we have to see how it goes this month.  Unlike Tidalis BETA which I wrote a review on, game development moved way too fast for me to write a review of the AVWW BETA so I never really tried.  I will be writing a 1.0 AVWW review whenever it comes out in March.  So hopefully that comes out great!  :).

And with this final screenshot, I head off.  Hope everyone has a great day!  Link to Larger Size Here: Steam Pic.
